The Karakurum International University (KIU) is located in Gilgit, the administrative capital and largest town of the Gilgit Baltistan Pakistan. The University was established in 2002 by a charter from the federal government on the orders of President Pervez Musharraf. The University is surrounded by glacier mountains and flow tow rivers of Gilgit and Hunza.
Gilgit air port is 10 km form University, providing daily flights to capital of Country Islamabad.The campus, situated on the University Road, is easily accessible from the airport and the bus station. Taxis are found all around the town.
